Champange Breakfast

Tomas made me and Ashes a champange breakfast this morning since the girls spent the night with their grandparents. He did a great job: fresh mango, blueberries, a mushroom and onion frittata, and mimosas.

After that we went up to the Guilliams Winery had had lunch with Thomas' long lost childhood friend Scott and his girlfriend Lyndsey. They came to visit Scott's family since they live in Ohio and Tennesse. It was nice to meet them. It was funny becuase we all left the winery and ended up meeting up later in the day, a total surprise, at the Big Dipper. I had a really good chocolate malt there.

Tonight is going to be low key since we are going into San Francisco with the girls tomorrow. I'm very excited! We're headed to the California Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park. I will of course be blogging all about it tomorrow. Also, as a side note, I post pictures as the day goes on. So, you might be able to see what's going on before reading about it.

Out with the Guilliams in St. Helena

Yesterday the whole family spent the day together. Our first stop was the St. Helena Farmer's Market. It was really interesting. It takes place in the park, which, is perfect for the girls. We ended buying some fancy goat cheese that I'm in love with. The cheese guy gave us the background on the couple that farms the goats and makes the cheese we bought.

The farmers market was really nice and had a lot of great produce. I'm planning to go back next week and buy a jar of jalapeño and garlic jam to send to Uncle Ken. When we were done shopping we sat by the playground and ate fresh blackberries and blueberries. Of course, the girls ran around and played.

From there we went up Spring Mountain to the Guilliams House and Winery. I met Thomas' parents and we had a little cookout. I was able to go downstairs to the wine cellar and check it out. Thomas' mother set me up with a quick tasting of two of their wines. It was pretty good.

After that, Ash and the gang had to travel to Vallejo for an appointment. I stayed back so I could attend the Friends of the St. Helena Library Book Sale. Of course, I ended up buying a bunch of books. I guess the library is also very dog friendly. Every week a dog comes to the library and kids are able to sit down and read a book to him/her. I took a picture of the dog bowl outside the library.

I have the morning and afternoon by myself today. I'm planning on doing some laundry and maybe hitting up one of the close by wineries.

So, I have nice studio like room with a private bath. It's right across the carport from Ash's kitchen. Which is perfect, because by the time I'm up and showered she has the coffee ready.

Tomorrow we're off to the farmer's market and the library book sale. Below are pictures of the vineyard across the street from Ash's house. There's two other vineyards on the right and way back behind the house.

Shannon's Swim Lesson

Shannon had her one of her bi-weekly swim lessons today. It's held at the St. Helena High School pool, which is outisde. The High School Swim team actually teaches the lessons. It's a pretty neat idea. The only problem is that Caitlin would really love to swim too. Unfortunately, Caitlin's not old enough yet. IMG00070-2..15-1610.jpgIMG00052-2..15-1227.jpg

Oh, I've updated the pictures on some prior posts. So, check them out to see the corresponding photos.

First Winery Visit

So, today we went and visited Sheila, Ashleens’ sister, at the V. Sattui Vineyard & Winery. It's actually within walking distance from Ash's house. We got some great "fancy" cheeses and had a tasting. The fancy cheese is for our Caprese salad for dinner. The picture below is some of the facy cheese.
We also, brought home 2 bottles of wine. My favorite is the Gamay Rouge.
Later today, I'm going to Shannon's swim lesson. I can't wait to see her swim!
