Mark and Venetia were nice enough to invite Chris and I out to dinner at, guess where, a micro brewery!!! Harmon Brewery to be exact. I ordered a sampler and since I'm partial to dark beers I enjoyed the Puget Sound Porter the most.

After dinner we walked to the Bridge of Glass. The bridge is huge display of Chihuly's work.

After dinner we drove by Stadium High School where the movie 10 Things I Hate About was filmed.

Overall it was a great night. Thanks Mark & Venetia!

We were next to Seattle University when I saw this cartoon. I loved it right away. In fact, I was tempted to take it down from the telephone pole and keep it. Alas, I did not because then no one else would have been able to see it.

The Emerald City a.k.a Seattle

So, I made it into Seattle today. I slept in as late as I could before a leisurely morning. Once, Chris was out of bed we headed north for Seattle. The first stop of the day was The Pike Place Market.

We walked around the market and I got to see the massive amounts of things for sale. Everything you would expect at a farmer's market and little strange touristy things. We bought some Rainier Cherries which Chris believes are taste better than Bing Cherries. They were okay. In my opinion not as good as Bing Cherries.

I took lots of pictures by the market. They're in the photo gallery if you want to take a look. Unfortunately, the fish guys were not throwing the fish when we were there. I really loved the market next door because of it's name: The Sanitary Market.

Before we left I met up with a street performer named Phineas. He was awfully cute and could a do a crazy amount of tricks.

From there we drove around till we got to Broadway and Pike. This is one of Chris' favorite areas in Seattle. We ended up walking around and having lunch there.

On Broadway every so often they have dance steps on the sidewalk. It was really interesting. I wish I understood how to count steps.

The plans for tonight are to go see a movie and hit the brewery. Chris is going in solidarity with me because she does not drink. That means I'll have a driver!!

Oh, I forgot! I'm not supposed to come and visit a lot because each time I've come there's been a heat wave.

Oh, and, I was tempted to go the Yankees and Mariners game but I would rather sit inside a cool movie theater. I guess I'm not a true die hard fan.

Sushi Sans Priests

Well, I made it to Seattle a little before midnight last night. My sister was nice enough to come and pick me up from the airport. We went back to the Magnuson's House, my sister's in-laws, and crashed. I was lucky enough to receive the "waterfall room" which is next to the koi pond.
After sleeping in late, Chris and I decided to have sushi for lunch and headed into downtown Tacoma. We ate at Two Koi, which was fantastic. I could probably eat there again before I head out.

From there we walked over to Mad Hat and had a nice cup of tea. I had Enchanted Evening with Hibiscus over ice, because I'm a philistine. Chris, of course, had her tea the proper way, hot. From there we ran a bunch a errands and I got to see some more of Tacoma. Mainly, I saw Old Town Tacoma and the North End, where the Magnuson's live.
Tonight the plan is to stay in and relax. I do have hopes to make it down to the micro brewery that we drove by today. Venetia and Mark are making seafood boil for dinner and I picked up a couple of local brews to go along with dinner. I guess that will have to do for now.

Sushi & Priests

View West Coast on Vriesema's travel map.

I'm in the Philadelphia airport and my flight to Seattle is actually in the international section of the airport. Lots of duty free shops, from which I'm avoiding. Anyway, I went to a
sushi place and decided to have a california roll for dinner. So, there I am in line and about 15 priests get in line behind me. Strange experience. Well, for me at least. I'm not used to being around priests. Especially, priests from Spain, at that. I saw them all board a flight to Madrid. Seriously, I did just happen to notice. I wasn't stalking them.

I ended up splurging at Hudson News. I bought a new book even though I packed like 20 books. The clerk told me to have a nice life instead of have a nice day. It really made me smile. It may become my new thing to say to people who I'll never see again.
